Identifying employee requirements of 4-5 Star hotels

It is clear that working in a 4-5 star hotels  is always the dream of most of the students majoring Hospitality Management. It is a professional work environment that requires employees to be perfect in all aspects.

With the aim of inspiring the students majoring Hospitality Management to arouse passion, as well as facilitating their understanding of necessary requirements and skills for their chosen career, the Hospitality Management held a seminar with valuable sharing from Mr. Nguyen Le Hoang Vu, Deputy Food & Beverage Manager – Hotel Continental. The seminar attracted participation of over 160 students.

In a friendly atmosphere, the speaker shared his work experience of nearly 10 years in the profession, working  in various positions including waiter, sales, warehouse manager, supervisor, deputy restaurant manager, restaurant manager, and deputy F&B manager.

Star rating is not of interest to small and medium sized hotels; therefore if having   professional qualifications, you are qualified to look for a suitable job. Even many hotels will be willing to employ and train a candidate who lacks required qualifications and experience. To advance to upper management positions in small and medium sized hotels, experience is sometimes more valued than a degree.

However, 4-5 star hotels set stricter requirements for staff as well as management level. To become an employee, you have to equip yourself with a valuable vocational qualification, together with  international certificates, which will help you easily get job opportunities at  big hotel groups. To get promoted to management level at  4-5 star hotels, attitude is one of the prerequisites besides professional skills, experience, foreign languages and soft skills.

The speaker sent valuable messages which best prepared students for future career opportunities and future success.
